Many of the pictures I make begin as elegies or lamentations, the beginning of a conversation about the ephemeral nature of our existence and the fragility of the people and things around us. Iā€™m interested in light, space, and movement, and the beauty and grace hidden in quiet places where spirit is easy to access.

I want my pictures to breathe, whether I make them in the studio or out exploring the power of place. I see each picture as a poem, a window on the internal, a documentation of a moment that won't come again.

Sometimes I work in black and white and sometimes I work in color. I like the freedom of digital and the discipline of film. Each picture should be strong enough to stand on its own and carry the weight of the moment, creating its own environment and telling its own story. I print my own images, completing the arc of the process and staying close to the pictures from beginning to end.  I want to express the regenerative nature of our lives, and the art and beauty that can spring forth from humility and appreciation.
